Incident: KLM B744 near Amsterdam on Jan 15th 2017, cargo smoke indication
A KLM Boeing 747-400, registration PH-BFL performing flight KL-714 (dep Jan 14th) from Paramaribo (Suriname) to Amsterdam (Netherlands) with 428 people on board, was descending through FL250 towards Amsterdam when the crew received a cargo hold smoke indication, declared emergency and instructed emergency services to not open any doors. The crew advised they would vacate the runway and taxi to a remote stand. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on runway 06 about 18 minutes after declaring Mayday. Emergency services followed the aircraft while it vacated the runway and taxied to a near remote stand, where passengers disembarked and were bussed to the terminal. Emergency services did not find any trace of fire, heat or smoke.
The airline reported the indication was identified as false.
The aircraft is still on the ground 10 hours after landing.
